Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited was formed as a joint venture between Tata group and American International Group, Inc. (AIG). In this particular insurance venture, the Tata group holds 74% share and the AIG holds 26%. In its initial stage the Tata AIG General Insurance had only six branches operating all over India but gradually due to the professional and trustworthy conduct and services of the insurance company it has established itself as an efficient insurance company with many branches operating almost all over India. Tata AIG General was the first insurance company to introduce a toll free helpline number and a mobile claims service.
